Happening HKT

17 April 2017 // Monday

Been some time since I did HKT and I must say its a killer to do this flight during Songkran because both ways are full! To add on to this horror, there's more of those one-kind passengers (OKP) which I mentioned before.

Here's one at Row 5.

Upon boarding she was seated in jcl and her mother seated in ey, but she decided to swop so her elderly mother could enjoy jcl. We had no problem with that.

Next she pressed call bell to ask me for a toy for her nephew. "Is it still the green spongebob and the plane plushie?" She probably was trying to show she knows our stuff very well but I am not impressed at all. So I told her yes its still those two in which she replied, "ee, so leychey," (sorry I can't explain the meaning of that) "but never mind la, give me one each." she continued. *roll eyes*

When I was pushing down my cart to Row 5 and serving special meals along the way, I reached Row 5 and was about to serve the baby meal at 5ABC, this OKP at 5DEF interrupted me by asking, "Come, tell me what's the entree choice today?" She totally caught me by surprise because (1) I wasn't ready to serve her yet and (2) who the hell uses the word entree? I managed to blabber to her "just give me a moment please" where's she perfectly fine with it.

When I finally reached her I offered the fish or chicken to her and she asked to see both meals! I rolled my eyes a hundred times inside and unwrapped the foil to show her. She was taking her own sweet time to pick and choose by weighing the healthiness of the choices and finally opted for the fish because "there was more greens". After picking the fish she asked for the chicken too and I told her I can't give her extra unless all passengers have been served. She agreed and carried on with her meal. *phew finally*

Then the second challenge came when I was serving this young Indian couple. They don't look local, so when I offered the meals, he stared at me for a few seconds before asking me for vegetarian meal. I told him it was only by request basis and offered him biscuits. He waited a few seconds while staring at me and asked for orange juice. I repeated my question to know whether they wanted biscuits and he stared at me AGAIN, waited and waited and waited... "ya of course" he said.

..........

First sector closed. Here comes the second sector's first OKP. Row 5 AGAIN.

I stood at 5ABC for boarding and since I was pretty tall I usually close the compartment above so I can stand straight. When this family boarded, this lady who seems like the MIL started putting all their bags in the compartments across. I was worried the passengers at 5DEF will not have space for their bags later on so I asked the MIL if she wanted to put it in the compartment above but she ignored me and continued. *rages inside*

After they settled down, I opened the empty compartment above them and this MIL started standing up and transferring all her bags and blocking all the boarding passengers. Why are there such stubborn passengers!

Something on a lighter mood, I'm surprised a kid below 2 years old can speak and answer questions perfectly. I think its my first time seeing an infant speak so I find it very amusing.

Finally it comes to landing time. This couple asked about their connecting flight to Brisbane (BNE) which is boarding at 8.30pm and we were supposed to land 8.40pm but because of slight delays we're landing at 9pm. They asked, "so what am I gonna do if this plane lands at 9? Is the aircraft gonna hold for us?"

Rule number one; if you are asking a favour, please ask nicely.

The way they asked the question triggered the inner sarcastic me. I asked if they booked the connecting flight themselves and they nodded. "Sir, ma'am, I would suggest you to book a longer transit the next time you book your flights, preferably at least 2 hours. I can't promise the aircraft would hold for you, but the ground staff would assist you in anyway they can."

I ended up checking the seat plan and realized half the plane passengers are heading to BNE.

Such a happening HKT...
