Laughter all in a Day's Work

05 April 2017 // Wednesday

Hi guys! April has been really boring for me so far. Nothing much in my roster to look forward to except for Cairns at the end of the month. Today was a Darwin (DRW) for me; another long ass flight.

My Captain for today is someone whom I know quite well; he added me on Facebook since the first time we flew together. He was a First Officer (FO) then, but today is my first time flying with him after he has been promoted. When left with S1 and S3 to choose my position, I chose to work in Business Class since the tech crew are pretty nice to get along.

Load in Business Class was 5 and 12 and in EY was 73 and 149. I chose S1 also because I really was too tired to face 149 passengers at the back haha.

When the caterers bought in the carts and meals in the oven rungs, he told us that everything fell on the way here so I was to check if everything was intact. The entire oven rung was slanted to one side and one of the meals spilled all over the oven rung so there was food everywhere. Everything on my jcl trays were gathered at one side of each tray and I had to rearrange everything but most was fine except for a chipped plate or two. The caterer had to re-uplift few food items since they were destroyed beyond recognition haha,

Anyway nothing much on the first sector except the intriguing conversation between me and tech crew about life and marriage and such. On the way back, I was so flustered in JCL with the 1 passengers "chasing" me for food and drinks. I ran out of meal choice for the last four passengers and I felt really bad. Especially for 3A, who asked for Cider and Coke Zero which we both do not cater.

I eventually asked the aft crew if they were okay to give up the crew meals so I could offer to passengers and they were okay. But when I went back to offer them, they were no longer keen. But their faces still seemed pretty unhappy. I was on my toes the whole time.

When I headed into EY to get some stuff, I was shocked by the scene I saw. A full flight of big bulky Caucasians! Our passengers are usually quite small built so this was a different scene.

The aft crew shared a story to us how this Indian passenger drank beer thinking that it was apple juice and she stared into blank space there after.

On disembarkation, one passenger was so flustered looking for his glasses. Just as I was searching for him, his wife told him, "aren't you wearing your glasses?" Then I looked at him; and he laughed and walked away.

When we exited the aircraft back in Singapore, the ground staff mentioned one passenger left her passport so we all went back in to find the passport, to no avail but we found a scarf. One of the freelance crew bet with us that the passport is surely in the passenger;s bag because this is what always happen. When she went out to check with the passenger again, she came back telling us a joke.

The passenger didn't lose her passport, she lost her scarf.

Laughter all in a day's work.
