26 February 2017 // Sunday
Sunday already sucks, what's more is a SZX. Thankfully the load is light both ways and crew are awesome!
Passengers are ridiculous! 5D on the coming back sector asked during boarding for the magazines I was holding on to offer to jcl passengers. I couldn't find a reason to reject him so I relentlessly gave him one. He then commented on how small the aircraft was and questioned weren't we under SQ. I replied him yes we are but we are just flying regional and our aircraft are the smaller sized ones (like duh). He asked if SQ fies to SZX and the answer is no and he even went on to ask me if they plan to do so in future. Of course I wouldn't know. I passed him our inflight magazine which shows our flight routes. Case closed (for now).
5B was a mother with infant who was already cocky when she boarded the aircraft. When my colleague offered to help her with her infant seatbelt, she refused to let us help her and demanded that we not touch her baby. That is no problem at all. However, she did not even cooperate to listen to the safety briefing to be done to all parents traveling with infants and my colleague asked for my help. I went over and from her accent found out that she is a Hongkie but thinks she is very "up there" just because she speaks English. Oh come on.
Anyway I managed to brief her and she acceded to all our instructions too so I shall not bother her. But during meal service she gave my colleague problems again. When my colleague offered the meal choice of the day, either fish with spaghetti or chicken with rice, she questioned my colleague in a doubtful manner, "isn't the menu fish with rice? You mean you changed the menu?"
In response, my colleague answered really tactfully and subtly that we change our menu very often once she felt that this passenger was trying to prove that she is a frequent flier with us to the extent that she even knows our menu. And fyi, the menu is not decided by us. Haha.
Back to the passenger at 5D, he decided to move to 6A right after take off. Doesn't matter, during meal service, he requested for a gin tonic "like now" as quoted by my colleagues serving him. What's worse is that when they were doing collection, he not only moved back to his seat at 5D, he asked to clear the gin tonic which he did not even touch! Sometimes I really wonder what goes through these passengers' mind.
Finally we were done with service and while enjoying our crew meals I attended to a call bell at 26C and was shocked to find 5D there staring at me without his shoes! He asked for a glass of water which I gave to him, and out of curiosity I walked to 5D and saw his pair of shoes there. Seriously?
Mid flight a passenger bought a sales item from Skyshop but just as we were about to land (about 30mins before landing when we're preparing for landing) this passenger at 22D asked to purchase a health bracelet from Skyshop but was worried about the length and whether it will fit on his hand. The bracelet length was stated clearly as 20cm but he asked for an estimation so I used my finger tips of my thumb and pinky when I stretch them out and told him that was about 15cm. He doubted me and asked me to get him a string to measure again but I already told him we do not have string onboard. I made a marking on a tissue paper that I rolled thinly into a string-like object and gave him the measurement and from my judgement, I assured that he would be able to fit in the bracelet. He was still skeptical about buying the item and by now I was already getting impatient. I offered him alternatives of buying it online and have it delivered to your place after he get the measuring done at home, buy it onboard and ask for extension at the shop or attempt to do a refund with the company. He rejected all and suddenly decided to pay for it (good for me anyway). I passed him the item and the receipt and witnessed him putting it on perfectly and comfortably just as we were about to land. That sense of satisfaction on my right judgement made me feel so good.
Case closed for today, fears of China flights never go away *cries*.

Saturday Morning
25 February 2017 // Saturday
Saturday morning was supposed to be a KL flight but yesterday office called to ask if I was willing to do a PEN instead which comes back earlier so why not? Although I was pretty skeptical whenever office calls but oh well just trying my luck.
So I heard the reporting time over the phone and when I woke up this morning and checked in for my flight, to my ultimate horror I realized I remembered the wrong reporting time and it actually mean I was going to be late! I hurried my hubby and gave a call to briefing room to inform I'd 5-10mins late (Google Map says 8mins to be exact).
I was totally stressed out and hurried to briefing room once I arrived at the airport and the other crew were all waiting for me to start briefing and I feel so paiseh ><
So I was S2 (since a long time ago) but I was kinda happy 'cos feeling tired from the morning RT and can avoid interacting with passengers. Sometimes S2 is the best position when you just don't want to talk to anyone haha.
So during boarding I heard a lot of commotion in the cabin and secretly thanking cic for putting me as S2 to get out of all these drama.
During the second sector, passenger at 22C feedback to me about the boarding process at Penang station and that he liked it very much and suggested that we should adopt the same boarding method at other stations too. Honestly I know nuts about boarding because it is solely up to the ground staff so I just passed him a feedback form and asked him to write in to our company. Case closed.
All in all was a good flight, we were pretty fast since we completed collection before Captain's arrival announcement. We departed at the nearest gate and ended up arriving at the furthest gate. A long walk to get out...

22 February 2017 // Wednesday
Happy midweek! Second and last India overnight of the shortest month of 2017: Coimbatore (CJB).
CJB is a relatively easy overnight to do but anyway I was S1 with an extremely nice cic so nothing else matters.
We were sharing cold jokes all the way and laughing non-stop at our lame selves. When my cic opened a champagne for a passenger after take off, probably due to the bumpy take off, the champagne popped so hard that all the champagne started flowing out and it got onto my cic. She was joking about the advertisement on tv about celebrating with champagne while I was joking about her having a literal "champagne shower".
Our jcl passengers are such "high-class" people that they think they are having fine-dining by slowly enjoying their meals and taking forever to finish their meals.
This lady at 1D asked for Chamomile tea but when I served she insisted that the tea smells funny and ended up taking out her own TWG Chamomile teabag (which my instant response was a inside 180 degrees roll eye). Atas lor.
Our Row 5 passengers were an old elderly couple whom our hearts wrenched when we saw them. The husband probably suffered a stroke and had a severe hunchback that his face was already leaning on the tray table during meal service. He can't use his hands to eat so his wife had to put his food on the tray for him to eat directly with his mouth. But it is still sweet to see them so loving despite their age.
Taking off out from CJB, my crew and cic had issues with a kid at the aft and took so long before we could set the cabin for take off. When we were landing in SIN, this same kid was giving problems because the mum refuse to let the crying child sit down and it turned out that their kid was below 2 years old but they bought a seat for the child so we ended up having to issue an infant seatbelt. I was in jcl on standby while they were settling this family and Captain called to say we were landing in 3mins and when I took a look out of the window oh my god we were literally landing anytime! Such a rushed cabin check and the moment my cic sat down and informed Captain, once she finished her landing announcement our wheel touched the runway!
But thank god we landed. Rest off rest off :D

Smart Alecs Onboard!
21 February 2017 // Tuesday
Today was my ChiangMai (CNX) in a while. Everyone is busy changing flights for their new March roster while I dragged my feet to work early in the morning.
I was S3 and was kinda dreading this flight. It wasn't an exactly easy flight to do.
Anyways, on the way up, something minor happened. When we first arrived the aircraft, my S1 found outdated newspapers in the galley so she threw it outside the aircraft on the floor (the previous set of crew should have thrown it away).
I was S3 so I was in charge of preparing the papers and I got a shock when one passenger who just boarded returned me a copy of the Sunday Times (today is Tuesday if you need a reminder) and questioned why we gave him outdated papers.
Followed by a second passenger who returned a copy of Monday's paper to us but he was nice. We then figured out all these passengers actually picked these discarded papers from the floor thinking that it was given/set up by us?
We are not budget airlines please; we don't leave papers on the floor for you to take. Even if we are budget airlines, there would not be any papers itfp.
So that aside, when we arrived at CNX, I met the ground staff again (whom I'm not sure if he remembers me) but because we had a good chat the last time I flew chartered to ChiangRai (CEI). While we chatted, two of our crew went down to buy us authentic Thai Milk Tea. Yums.
So on the way back, we were serving Spicy Chicken with Noodles or the Fish with Potatoes in Tomato Sauce. There was this group of China pax in the mid cabin which I served. One lady stopped me and asked for "spicy" so I thought she was referring to asking for a second helping for the chicken since she was already munching on her fish. She repeated "spicy" a couple of times with me trying hard to understand her and trying hard not to get annoyed.
I kept asking her if she wanted the chicken but she said no and she even spelled "spicy" to me. (yes ma'am I know my spelling)
She finally was willing to speak Chinese and said "la jiao" which means chilli and at that very instant, I tried so hard to hold my eyes back in place so I wouldn't have to roll my eyes. Ladies and Gentlemen, please don't speak English if you can't. I am bilingual, tyvm.
So all in all it was a much better CNX than usual. A chilling night with Hubby and starting to dread Coimbatore (CJB) overnight tomorrow...

Sleep > Food??
18 February 2017 // Saturday
Sucks to be working on a Saturday but oh well. TRV overnight and my cic changed last minute. The cic that was called up is known to be a little "crazy" onboard, so I'm keeping my fears in mind. Lol.
I was 3rd most senior on this flight, and I had a seriously bad feeling that I will be S1 (which I don't want because of the cic) and what's worse is that another crew said he also had a feeling I would be S1. Seriously I wouldn't mind if it was other cic but because its her I recalled all the shuddering stories of her previous flights I swear I don't want to work JCL.
Like people say... Be careful what you wish for. Yeah I was S1. Suck it up man hahaha. Not too bad actually since going up was 0 in JCL and coming back was only 5. So we kinda had a good rest on the way up but I kept going to the back because I was discussing marriage and hdb stuff with another crew who is getting married soon too. But I was afraid cic might think I don't want to talk to her... But seriously we had not much in common.
On the way back, 3 out of 5 were Chinese and I'm surprised. The other couple was Caucasian. And out of these 3 Chinese, 2 were Taiwanese while the other was a PRC. Here's what's interesting about the last guy I mentioned.
So on ground when I offered newspapers and all I spoke to all in English (one does not speak Chinese to Chinese lest some gets offended AND some speaks really good English) so all of them managed to reply me decently. So I continued speaking in English when taking orders after take off and this guy at 3A couldn't really understood me and to a certain point in time he got a little frustrated and asked in a little raised tone, "can you speak chinese?" (in chinese). So of course I did since I could.
After I took his order, I went to prepare his tray but to my surprise when I approached him, he was snoring away! IT was less than just 2 mins and he fell asleep? I was speechless and couldn't help but chuckled.
The very next moment, when my cic walked out into the cabin, she came back questioning me if 3A was sleeping. I was positive because I couldn't wake him up although repeatedly calling his name, but my cic showed me, he was awake! I was so confused hahaha so I immediately rushed out to serve him his appetizer.
5 minutes later as I was checking if he was done with his appetizer so I could serve his main... guess what? Yeap, he was snoring away again, with the chicken still on his fork. Hahahaha I held back my laugh and rushed back to the galley.
After relaying the story to my cic, I peeked outside again, and there he was happily munching on his chicken. By this time I didn't know to laugh or cry.
It took him about an hour before he finished his appetizer, so finally I managed to serve his main course.
I shall not mention how many times this repeated with his main course and can you believe it or not, a 4 hours flight and he only finished his food right before land?
Told this to hubby and he said this guy prolly has some sleeping disorder... If that's the case its pretty sad because they can't drive or operate machinery as its too dangerous. But it's still funny.
Yay to rest off! #weekends

Instant Karma
17 February 2017 // Friday
Full Day standby (SBYFULL) today so it starts form 0900h. Because hubby is on reservist he can't really send me to work so he's extremely concerned as to what flight I will be doing so he made me call MIOCC the night before to ask for fights.
I asked, and as expected they said no open flights. So I headed to bed.
They called me at 3am and told me to operate MI774 USM. I'm more than happy (at least its not some China or India) but the reporting is at 0855h why did they call me at 3am? Omg. Had such a hard time sleeping back. Hubby says MIOCC is most productive between 1am-3am haha.
I was S3 for this flight and because USM only uses A319 we were down by one crew at the back and its full load both ways. For the first sector S1 came down to help us for service.
For the second sector, cic came down halfway through meal service and started spying on me. So god damn stress and she was practically eavesdropping on my passenger and my conversation. For a moment I wondered if I was on check haha.
And when I did collection with cic, I accidentally spilled a can drink and I was like whoosh omg. What a blunder. I was extremely clumsy this day, not to mention how a bottle of wine rolled onto the passenger. So embarrassing.
Aside to service, when we arrived at USM, we were shocked to find out that the earlier USM MI771 hasn't departed yet! They were overbooked and delayed by almost 2 hours. Poor them!
Just as we were laughing at the other stet of crew, instant karma found us. We were delayed for almost 30mins due to this group of China tourists (which is actually a very long story about miscommunication) so basically I shall just skip that.
Guess what, we were still 10mins early when we arrived in SIN! What a good way to start the weekends (not). I'm doing Trivandrum (TRV) overnight tomorrow.

Chop Chop HKT
15 February 2017 // Wednesday
Short and sweet HKT flight today. Going up was only 88 but coming back was overbooked haha.
I was S5 (yay!) and the crew was awesome. It was my favourite Captain today again!
During service I was somehow clumsy. Dropped a tray and a bottle of wine rolled onto the passenger. Thanks to my crew who jokingly helped me cover up saying I got too excited haha.
Coming back was full load so I got to sit at the back for takeoff. But so suay the PPS at emex row was moved to JCL with his friends so there was one empty seat. S4 and me scissors paper stone and I lost... So I sat at emex row lor.
Upon disembarkation, passenger asked what happened to the wing because something seemed to be leaking. I informed Captain and he said, "no worries because we are already parked and on ground." He thereafter informed the engineer to check and concluded it was prolly just condensation.
Not to mention my cic sharing a cold joke during the flight which cracked all of us up!
After we disembarked and were walking to the arrival hall, my cic and I were chatting about how Yishun was full of crazy people and how shitty our panel clinic doctors were because we both stayed at Yishun! Arghhh
So that's all for the day! Off again tomorrow :)

First Fuzhou!
13 February 2017 // Monday
Long ass flight today! My first Fuzhou (FOC) flight. *throws confetti*
Flying with my favourite CIC because she was my JCL mentor when I did my sny and she is now promoted! It has been almost a year since then!
I kinda expected she'd put me S1 and I was extremely happy inside because the load for JCL was 1 and 0 hehehehehehehehe.
During the journey, Captain kept using the toilet... Haha but he didn't need us to standby inside the cockpit. At least its less inconvenient.
Coming back was full at the back so I helped at the back for meal service. Nothing much on that, just the usual Chinese pax profile.
We had an engineer onboard in JCL so we had a quick chat. He has been in the company over ten years and I'm surprised their bond is 8 years including 3 years of training with only basic pay.
I can't believe how they survive three years with that meagre pay.
Other than that, I'm just super tired. Shag balls flight.

Good days, good flights
12 February 2017 // Sunday
Sucks to be working on a Sunday. But today is just a short morning flight Phnom Penh (PNH).
Load was 80+ both ways and we touched down almost half an hour earlier!
Flew with a Captain that I was closest with and cic whom I got pretty close with. All in all a good flight because I was second senior and most senior at the back.
If only all flights are like this. Most dreaded Fuzhou (FOC) tomorrow. Can't wait for it to be over.

"Shitty" Xiamen
10 February 2017 // Friday
XMN again today. My second one this month after I was called up few days back.
Not really looking forward to it... And we were down by one crew. But never mind!
Shortly after taking off, when the seatbelt sign has not even been switched off, this passenger rushed from Row 7 to the back wanting to use toilet. Me and the other crew seated at the back tried to stop her but she started yelling at us saying her shit is coming out (wtf?)
Our colleague seated at the emergency exit row also tried to stop her but to no avail.
We were super annoyed at such passengers because it is for the sake of your safety. If not seriously we can't be bothered. If the aircraft encounters clear air turbulence, everything that is not secured will fly and hit the ceiling. Most passengers in their years of traveling by air has never encountered this hence they are not the least worried or aware of the dangers.
So anyway, while this "Ms Shit" was in the washroom, the seatbelt sign was turned off and we started loading our meals for meal service. So we heard a huge commotion just behind the curtain so we went out to take a look.
Ms Shit seemed to be slamming on the door constantly while locking-unlocking the door at the same time. Passengers who were queuing outside the toilet were all staring on with a blank face. My colleague tried to knock on the door to check whether she was okay inside the toilet but there was no reply.
So we unlocked the toilet from outside (yes that's possible because of emergency situations) but she kept pushing on the door. The toilet door is bi-fold so it has to fold into half inwards before it will open. But Ms Shit is leaning on it so the door cannot be opened. We gave up and left her to continue her business.
Not long after, she came out of the toilet (like finally) and started to come into our galley to "explain" herself. Saying how she "accidentally" ate a banana in the morning on an empty stomach and caused her to have the urge to shit. I simply told her it was for her safety and she still could laugh and said, "sorry ah my shit was coming out".
Please shit before the plane take off ma'am.
That's not the end. To our utmost horror, when we looked into the toilet, there was a lump of her end-product on the floor!!! Who still does such things these days omgggggg
My colleague went to take the UPK to clean up the shit in toilet and we were joking about how we literally get shit in our work.
Our jobs are hard so the least you could do, is to not shit on the toilet floor. Tyvm.
Tyvm.
Rojak Passengers
09 February 2017 // Thursday
Denpasar (DPS) is too early a flight for anybody! Departing at 0655h I need to reach at 0455h and wake up at 0410h...
Flight was full both ways... Nothing much in the first sector except that we're shagged from it.
On the second sector, the passenger profile shocked us utterly. There was a group of Singaporeans in the front, followed by a group of Caucasians (French and American). In the mid cabin there are groups of Koreans and Japanese. And at the aft, a whole group of China Chinese.
My cic decided that Malay announcement was deemed unnecessary so asked me to do Chinese announcement instead. But what's the point? They also don't listen.
But we were laughing at how the passenger profile is like rojak. And what's worse? JCL is full of North Indians. Hahahaha
We ended up so exhausted after the flight that we commented that we just did a Kathmandu (KTM) flight.
Honestly, morning flights are not for humans.

Shiok KL
07 February 2017 // Tuesday
Last day of my three days pattern. KL again!
It was a pretty light load so the morale of the crew was pretty good. I was S5 and it meant I had much lesser duties to do hehe.
Weather was super bad again but only during landing to the extent that I had to stop doing what I was doing and hold on to my seat to stabilize myself.
Light load so not much stories... Just that I kept drinking juices hehe.
Went to MBS to do hotel-hunting for our wedding after the flight. Another evening date with my hubby to commence the start of my off day!

7 x Compliments
06 February 2017 // Monday
Standby today called up for XMN at 3.10am.
Its a tiring three days pattern: KL-XMN-KL. Weather was so bad onboard that we could not finish service.
I was lucky to be working in JCL with total passengers for both ways lesser than 24. EY couldn't go on with collection because it got too bumpy so it was suspended for almost an hour.
On the way back, thanks to the two freelance crew with tons of flying experience, we had seven compliment letters onboard! My passenger in JCL and a group of Singaporeans amongst all the China passengers all commented that the service on their flight to XMN was horrible but on our flight they were very satisfied. We needed to do ten surveys on the flight back and the group of Singaporeas in EY actually asked for more to compliment us.
A good way to end the bad first sector. Third day tomorrow!

KL workout
05 February 2017 // Sunday
Sunday guys. And I'm working. Haha just a KL.
Load was pretty good, 80+ and 60+. Light load means no issue with baggage and also lesser chances of delay.
But just as we were discussing, no matter how light the load for KL (unless less than 50), the flight time is never enough. You don't even have time to slacken a little bit, or else you'd be rushing to prepare for landing.
I was S3 today, so I am supposed to start service from first row of EY (Row 5). But due to the short flight time for KL, the take off period is usually shorter than usual, which also means the aircraft is actually still climbing when we are pushing out the carts for service. Because we were down by one crew for this flight, I was going to man my cart alone. It sure is a hell workout just by pulling my cart out because the aircraft was not level. By the time I reached Row 5 I was already panting and my leg muscles were aching. Phew.
On the returning flight there were two families with infants at Row 5. And we were just discussing about parents asking for bassinets on a KL flight. The actual flight time is only 45mins, and excluding take off and landing its only less than 30mins. Some people just want to make our lives difficult.
Not to mention passengers who bring their own cup noodles and ask for hot water... honestly we have nothing much to comment on that, and neither are we going to stop you from consuming that. But on a KL flight?Ain't nobody got time for that.
And also, passengers who ask for blanket when we are preparing for landing. You want to bring the blanket home is it?
That kinda summarizes my flight today. Just back from a 3D2N staycation with my Hubby for his birthday so I was totally not in the mood for work haha. Anyways amsby tomorrow and followed by KL again the day after.
Let's see what's in store for me tomorrow!

Funny Lavatory Complains
31 January 2017 // Tuesday
The last day of the first month of 2017 (what an oxymoron) but I'm flying SZX!
I just did it last week just before cny so I thought it wouldn't be that bad... but I was wrong.
During boarding I was at Business Class when this china lady boarded. She was about to put her cabin luggage up when she told me in Chinese that its very heavy and asked if I could help. I readily agreed.
There are many cases of passengers asking for help but expecting us to do it ourselves (when they already said its very heavy) so they tend to let go while we are halfway putting the bags up. In such cases, I would ask for a fellow colleague to help with it to prevent injury caused to ourselves.
However in this case, she did not let go of the luggage. Just as I saw the wheels of the luggage nearer to me rest on the compartment ledge, I felt her side of the luggage sliding down towards us and the corner of the luggage hit her eye. She let go when the luggage was not in the compartment yet so the luggage slipped off. She instantly yelled in pain (which of course I understand) while saying, "how can you be like that!" Yes, she was blaming me for what just happened.
I replied her calmly, "ma'am, you asked for my help, and we were carrying the bag together. Its very heavy."
Her mother actually yelled back at me, "you still have to carry it no matter how heavy it is!"
Guys, this is seriously not the way to travel. If I was the one that hurt my eye today, would anybody give a damn??
So anyway I apologized and offered her ice pack to reduce any swelling. I offered her warm water and juices as well. My cic went down to apologize to this passenger after understanding what happened from me and thereafter informed me not to interact with this lady anymore.
My cic was so sure that this lady will write a complain to office but she wrote a VR to back me up for that. So... waiting for the call now. Hmph.
Putting that story aside... some funny incidents onboard. Passenger opened the lavatory door and asked, "is there only toilet bowl?" We stared at each other and couldn't hold back our laughter.
Another passenger went in with her daughter, but came out complaining the lavatory was too small when she had problems getting out (because the bi-fold door folds inwards). All kinds of complains.
Oh and, Captain was taxiing so fast and jammed brake a couple of times. We almost fell.
Last flight for now because I am on leave the next few days! Hubby's birthday is soon!!

Denpasar-Bali (DPS) today! I swopped flights with Idah (was supposed to be doing Fuzhou-FOC) for today and tomorrow (OFF for SZX) so I could come back earlier to celebrate the third day of CNY! I was off for the first day and had a day leave for the second day.
Honestly... I can't remember much for the flight. I just couldn't wait to touch down and celebrate cny.
Its sometimes nice to have things or events or people to look forward to... This way your time onboard actually passes faster!

What a joke: BLR edition
27 January 2017 // Friday
Happy cny eve! So I was supposedly rostered for Xiamen (XMN) today because I requested for a long China flight that comes back before 6pm so I can have reunion dinner with my family. But one crew asked to take her Bangalore (BLR) so she could fly with her batchmate.
It is pretty hard to fly with your batchmate but I was really reluctant to change a China for India... Until I saw the scheduled time of arrival. It was almost an hour earlier! My XMN was supposed to touch down at 1745h but BLR arrives at 1650h. And to add on, China has much higher possibility of delay.
So I did BLR instead! Its my first BLR since my training days (ya believe it or not I was not rostered this flight at all for a year) so I really wasn't sure what to expect. One crew took mc last minute so we were only down to S4. But to our greatest surprise, the load was too good to be true! 80+ going up and 60+ coming back! We really haven't seen such good load since like December.
So everything was generally good, not as bad as the usual India overnights. But we had a hilarious encounter onboard.
After taking off we realized that there was no hot water from the dispenser or the coffee boiler. We couldn't figure out why until we figured out that the water valve must be closed somehow. We tried looking for the water valve but couldn't find it (we only could recall where the switch was at for Airbus but we were using Boeing for this flight). So we gave up looking for the valve and decided to head to the forward to get hot water instead. It was a hell lot of inconvenience for us but what to do? We decided to get the engineer to fix it when we arrive at BLR.
But the engineer that came onboard had absolutely no idea where the water valve was. He was searching high and low for it and even asked us where the valve was at. (Oh of course we wouldn't need you if we could find it you know)
So he eventually took so long until my cic decided to call for boarding and told him to forget about finding the valve. Midway through our flight to Singapore, S2 found the valve at a very significant spot while bending down to get something. And we turned it on and, alas water was flowing! Three of us couldn't believe our eyes that none of us managed to see the valve (it was not even hidden).
We had a good laugh at ourselves. Happy cny everyone and enjoy your reunion!
