31 January 2017 // Tuesday
The last day of the first month of 2017 (what an oxymoron) but I'm flying SZX!
I just did it last week just before cny so I thought it wouldn't be that bad... but I was wrong.
During boarding I was at Business Class when this china lady boarded. She was about to put her cabin luggage up when she told me in Chinese that its very heavy and asked if I could help. I readily agreed.
There are many cases of passengers asking for help but expecting us to do it ourselves (when they already said its very heavy) so they tend to let go while we are halfway putting the bags up. In such cases, I would ask for a fellow colleague to help with it to prevent injury caused to ourselves.
However in this case, she did not let go of the luggage. Just as I saw the wheels of the luggage nearer to me rest on the compartment ledge, I felt her side of the luggage sliding down towards us and the corner of the luggage hit her eye. She let go when the luggage was not in the compartment yet so the luggage slipped off. She instantly yelled in pain (which of course I understand) while saying, "how can you be like that!" Yes, she was blaming me for what just happened.
I replied her calmly, "ma'am, you asked for my help, and we were carrying the bag together. Its very heavy."
Her mother actually yelled back at me, "you still have to carry it no matter how heavy it is!"
Guys, this is seriously not the way to travel. If I was the one that hurt my eye today, would anybody give a damn??
So anyway I apologized and offered her ice pack to reduce any swelling. I offered her warm water and juices as well. My cic went down to apologize to this passenger after understanding what happened from me and thereafter informed me not to interact with this lady anymore.
My cic was so sure that this lady will write a complain to office but she wrote a VR to back me up for that. So... waiting for the call now. Hmph.
Putting that story aside... some funny incidents onboard. Passenger opened the lavatory door and asked, "is there only toilet bowl?" We stared at each other and couldn't hold back our laughter.
Another passenger went in with her daughter, but came out complaining the lavatory was too small when she had problems getting out (because the bi-fold door folds inwards). All kinds of complains.
Oh and, Captain was taxiing so fast and jammed brake a couple of times. We almost fell.
Last flight for now because I am on leave the next few days! Hubby's birthday is soon!!
