Smart Alecs Onboard!

21 February 2017 // Tuesday

Today was my ChiangMai (CNX) in a while. Everyone is busy changing flights for their new March roster while I dragged my feet to work early in the morning.

I was S3 and was kinda dreading this flight. It wasn't an exactly easy flight to do.

Anyways, on the way up, something minor happened. When we first arrived the aircraft, my S1 found outdated newspapers in the galley so she threw it outside the aircraft on the floor (the previous set of crew should have thrown it away).

I was S3 so I was in charge of preparing the papers and I got a shock when one passenger who just boarded returned me a copy of the Sunday Times (today is Tuesday if you need a reminder) and questioned why we gave him outdated papers.

Followed by a second passenger who returned a copy of Monday's paper to us but he was nice. We then figured out all these passengers actually picked these discarded papers from the floor thinking that it was given/set up by us?

We are not budget airlines please; we don't leave papers on the floor for you to take. Even if we are budget airlines, there would not be any papers itfp.

So that aside, when we arrived at CNX, I met the ground staff again (whom I'm not sure if he remembers me) but because we had a good chat the last time I flew chartered to ChiangRai (CEI). While we chatted, two of our crew went down to buy us authentic Thai Milk Tea. Yums.

So on the way back, we were serving Spicy Chicken with Noodles or the Fish with Potatoes in Tomato Sauce. There was this group of China pax in the mid cabin which I served. One lady stopped me and asked for "spicy" so I thought she was referring to asking for a second helping for the chicken since she was already munching on her fish. She repeated "spicy" a couple of times with me trying hard to understand her and trying hard not to get annoyed.

I kept asking her if she wanted the chicken but she said no and she even spelled "spicy" to me. (yes ma'am I know my spelling)

She finally was willing to speak Chinese and said "la jiao" which means chilli and at that very instant, I tried so hard to hold my eyes back in place so I wouldn't have to roll my eyes. Ladies and Gentlemen, please don't speak English if you can't. I am bilingual, tyvm.

So all in all it was a much better CNX than usual. A chilling night with Hubby and starting to dread Coimbatore (CJB) overnight tomorrow...

  1. Hello! I've came across your blog while I was furiously googling for "SilkAir cabin crew interview" "SilkAir medical check up" "SilkAir blog" etc. 😂 I've recently went for the medical check up and it's been 3 weeks since then 😱 I've still not gotten an email or whatsoever from them. Is this a cause for concern or should I continue waiting? Hope to get a reply from you! Thank you :)

    1. Hello! It took me about 2 weeks before hearing from them after my medical check up, but then again they may need extra time to process the results. I have a friend who waited 3 weeks + and got asked to do a second medical check up but everything is fine after that. Give them another week or so and if you're worried can drop them an email/call? I suppose they're supposed to inform you even if you fail the check up (touch wood!) all the best!

    1. They will give you a call before mailing you the contract. Try giving them a call? And give SQ a shot too if that's what you want :) all the best!
